The University College of Teacher Education Tyrol (PHT) is the Centre of teacher education in the county Tyrol/Austria. By incorporating European standards of knowledge and research, the PHT is responsible for the Initial Teacher Education. In cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, it offers study programs for about 1000 students who are to become teachers in primary school, secondary school or vocational school. Additionally, the PHT offers a range of continuous professional development for in-service-teachers. Finally, it is also a centre for research and cooperates in many national and international scientific projects.
Situated at the heart of the Alps, the PHT employs 845 members of staff (800 teaching and research, 45 administrative) and is divided into five departments. Experts come from different fields like human sciences, general didactics, methodology, school practice, school development, school management, and teachers’ further professional development. The PHT has been involved in numerous EU projects (ranging from Short term Mobility and Mentoring to Citizenship Education, Leadership, Quality and Language Learning). ERASMUS+ is key for the internationalization process of the PHT. In the YETI-project it will lead the production of IO4.
